- include standard text across several articles
- include information boxes where you fill in the "parameter" information on your specific article
- format your articles in a standard way, such as tables
- add navigation menus to help connect your articles together
- insert temporary alerts to sysops or your readers
- much more
Hint: Templates are shown in the wiki editor as {{templatename}}. Technical help on how Templates work is here. All templates are stored in the Namespace called "Template:" in each UOC Wiki Project.

Categories of Templates
- "Official templates" - set up by Sysops and "pushed" to every UOC Wiki Project in the UOC Wiki Family. Most people will use these Official Templates.
- "User Templates" - created by Users and used locally on their UOC Wiki Project. These user templates are only available locally to that particular UOC Wiki Project. Good user templates can be nominated to become official, and then pushed to the entire UOC Wiki Family.
User Templates
UOC Wiki Users may create their own templates within a UOC Wiki Project. To design a template, see MediaWiki Help about Templates.
